More official proof that Valve is awesome.

Yesterday, march first there was an update for portal that simply said “Changed radio transmission frequency to comply with federal and state spectrum management regulations” and added a new radio achievement.
What happened is that if you place the radio in certain spots, it will begin to emit static noise. It was simpler to rip the .wav files straight out of the game though. The files ended up being SSTV transmissions, which is a way to send image files by sound. The images led to a server in Kirkland, near one of Valves HQ.

People went through the server and found these ASCII pictures where it identifies GLaDOS as GLaDOS v3.11 or March 11, the day Gabe Newel is getting his “Game Developers Choice Pioneer Award”

Preview for Half-Life 2 Episode 3 be announced on that day? Portal 2? Valve screwing with us?

One thing for sure, Valve is AWESOME!

Another portal update today, once again cryptic… “Added valuable asset retrieval”.

Turns out, it changes the end of the game. After you complete it, you’re now dragged away by something which sounds robotict. (People tried to find out what the model of thing dragging you away looked like and it turned out to be a tin of beans!!!).

So… the beans will quite literally be spilled…

Whoever cooks this stuff up is genius :)

@flatliner- Tin of beans.. hrm. If you look at the image, at the far top right theres a small paragraph about beancounters. This might just be an accident, but, it may just be an over-thought pun. woot!

So… are we all excited about portal 2 since it was officially announced a few days ago?
