Ok, I’m now convinced there’s a problem. I started to lag when playing Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer. The single player I can run at highest settings with 4x AA and never get a slowdown.
I was convinced that It was a problem on my end because when I looked at the floor the lag disappeared. So I decided to play at the lowest settings and slowly turn it up until I start to see the lag again.
One problem: Even at lowest settings I get the exact same lag, hell, it didn’t even improve it in the slightest.

Are there any ports that I need to open in order to play the game?

I’m pretty sure Ryan, Dru, and Dave went over this the other day. Dave was having issues with connecting to games. It happened to be his trend micro PC Chillin’ firewall that was flipping his game out. Dru hooked him up with some software. Try connecting to the game without any security enabled.

I might try it, but I won’t use it as a permanent solution just yet.

so you opened those ports on your router?

maybe i will try it when i get home tonight. i know im a noob but i know how to forward a port for u torrent, would that be the same thing?

The multiplayer for the PC version of MW2 still relies on P2P technologies, right? Could it possibly be because of people’s shitty upload speed? I remember when I set up a L4D server for fun, I couldn’t get more than 2 people to play on it on my connection since I only upload 40kbps. Shit sucks.

Firewalls really shouldn’t effect the UPnP, should they? I’m running Kaspersky internet security. Its got some “proactive defense” features that might be bothering MW2. Ill Google it some more.
