If you actually decided to continue, here’s whats up.

Server 2 is dead, we can’t populate it even when we try.

The thing is though, there is a decent pop that wants to play on server 2’s rule set, and from it would appear, server 1 wouldn’t care (or notice) either way if there are crits or not.

So after talking with a few of the other regs, someone suggested (it actually wasn’t me, even im surprised by this) that server 1 is just converted to nocrit, and server 2 is just eliminated.

In its current form, server 2 is just a money sink, tonight was the first time since nov 3, that more than 1 person had been in there.

In addition, standardized resets, server 1 was up to almost 4k unique users tonight without a reset, setting up a system where it is refreshed daily, would keep the server from being as choppy as it was tonight, which is always a plus. If a script/system that refreshes the server daily is too much work, providing more regs with the ability to refresh the server would also create the same solution.

So to summarize, here’s what was discussed

At the very least tap server 1 as no crit,
and get rid of server 2 (yeah, we cant pop that if we try)

That’s actually it, if anything, create a poll of what maps are community favorites, to create a rotation where the server just dies after people vote for a map no one really likes just for the lulz.

The second biggest server killer is random maps that no one likes appearing on the rotation.

Thats actually about it, if I were to mention my personal opinion I’d say find a way to force 1 person to be a medic, but im pretty sure that wont happen no matter what I say.
So, ignore that, and consider the rest of the post.

We are way ahead of you. We are getting rid of server 2 and getting server 1 with a new provider. Only like 8 people out of our community want a no crits server vs triple that who want crits therefore the server will have crits.

The people who wanted no crits said they would help us fill the server. They rarely ever did. More times than not the people who wanted crits filled it. I wanted to get rid of server 2 last month when I told everyone that I would no longer being fill servers 6 hours a day. I was told by others they would fill it and they never did. We wasted a month on it which is not to bad.

aight im gonna be honest none of this matters….were getting rid of both the servers at the end of this month.. thats why noone has filled server two in a long time.. we decided to off it along time ago..

we will be getting a new server.. as far as i know it will be a 100 tick server from lowpings.net i believe… which should be a good server without all the gay lag…

now as far as nocrits go… im sry to tell you guys this but as far as im aware it will have crits,,, thats part of the game and not to sound like an ass but im sick of the whining…there are plenty of nocrit servers out there …..

now dont get me wrong.. i dont exactly enjoy being killed by a rando crit.. but think about it you got just as many odds to get a crit as the other guy so make it work..

I don’t enjoy randomcrits and I don’t think anyone really does, not when it involves getting random critted by that newbie you’ve been ripping off for the last 10 minutes, only to have him flip out and go ’I’ma pwnajors’ in the chat. I feel actually wounded that after devoting so many hours of just sitting in an empty server trying to fill it while people play on a competitive level and make the potential players rage quit, I get considered as ‘no one’. I’ve spent a good amount of time trying to ‘fill server 2’ before the finals were coming up and I always get declined when I invite people to join, which leads me to believe that it’s not due to lack of trying but due to lack of motivation.

To put it in a different way, if everyone says “oh, I will not join, the server is empty”, then it’s not gonna fill, because no one wants to join. Way to go with backwards logic.

I also think there might be a lack of respect going on in server one. Yesterday I was playing with everyone else and some random noob medic starts trash talking mode for playing spy, and when mode replies, people just gang rape him like he’s some retard… all of that while he’s wearing VG tag and has mod.

I could understand that it doesn’t bother him, but I thought the server rules included something along the lines of “respect”
Lately I don’t even feel like playing on server one because it gets this bunch of 12 year old kids (or highly immature adults, whatever being the case.) acting like gods on it.

I’ll still be playing the new server, provided that other servers are far worse than VG, but I sincerely hope that despite the critfest, it doesn’t become a noobhouse like #1 has been to me recently.

I can deal with Crits or no Crits. What I can’t deal with is the server taking a crap and my more than generous 100 ms interp not covering the gaps which leads to stuttering.

I want my gaming to be smooth, and the convergence of two servers into one quality one should greatly assist with that.

However, I do disagree with the current map selection. Due (in part) to all the new games coming out, there aren’t as many people trying to populate the server as there once were. Setting the server back to a dustbowl/goldrush/badwater/vote will allow it to populate itself. All next map should be either one of those 3, however, there should be options available (set for a 75% success rate) to move to another map. If it is determined that a voted map is played much more frequently, it should be added to the rotation for a trial period.

First, crits are part of the game. Live with it or find a new game.

Second, I shit talk more than anyone and personally think “respect” is for pussies. This is the internet buddy grow a fucking pair.

Third, although I am not a fan of the three map rotation when we get the new server we may have to go back to the old way. Where there is still a map vote but the next map is set to one of those three maps so if no map is agreed on with a certain number of votes it will go to one of those three.

Finally Server 1 has always been a circus. Thats what makes it fun. We kick 3 people a month only for cheating and racism. I am not kicking shit talkers. I love to kill them and make them run with their tail between their legs.

Whatever works. I haven’t played much tf2 recently, so I can’t say much about server 1’s stability. That being said, if you guys are checking out new server providers, have you checked out nfoservers.com? I used them for my tf2 servers and some l4d servers a long time ago. My pings were usually around the 20-40 range for an atlanta server. A 24-man tf2 server (250 fps, 100 default tickrate) with hlstatsx and a simple webserver is about 68 bucks a month. More expensive than a lot of places, but their servers and customer support were all awesome. Never had a problem.

NFO have amazing servers but they are very expensive… lowpings.net have had some very good reviews and anything is better than gameservers so we are prolly going to try them out for a month. If they fail we may end up going to nfo but we will need a lot of money.

I personally don’t see much trash talk that seems actionable. Yes, it’d be nice if we all respected each other … but this is the internet, where 12 year olds (and 25 year olds behaving like 12 year olds) can hide behind their monitors and say whatever they want.

I find that the best way to stop it is to ignore it or mute the player doing it. These types of people have had plenty of practice being retards, you hopefully do not … so just rise above or rage about it in teamspeak like I do :-)

If people are completely out of control they will get kicked, but unless they are racist or assaulting someone pretty bad I wouldn’t count on it.
