I’m having problems downloading anything to my hard drive. If I go to download say a move from a website and right click on the movie and choose Save Target As, and I name it Kyle and to download it onto my desktop, it will download (it shows in the download box that it downloaded) the movie but doesn’t stay on my hard drive. It does this in both Firefox and Internet Explorer, I have ran a full virus scan using AVG, also ran Ad-Adware, and CCleaner. any ideas would be greatly appreciated
Sounds very strange! Are you running XP or Vista and does it happen with all files? Also, if you create a new user, log in to that and then download a file, does it save correctly?
hmm well my expertise says that u should try deleting some of the porn! :P
I had problems with that too.
Sometimes they only keeps the files temporarily and deletes them afterwards. Try downloading the files, then making a copy of it.
I am using Windows Vista, the problem only started recently as in a few months ago. some pictures it will let me save, but it is most files, i tried DLing a AA patch for my cousin and i download it to my desktop, it shows up until it is finished downloading and then it disappears so i search for it and it is no where to be found. I made another user account and saving an image from google homepage to my desktop, it puts it on the desktop until the download is finished and then removes it…….
it does the same thing when i try to DL torrents, and almost any other file
I’ve found a number of threads on this, but none have a solution outside of running scan disk, fixing permissions or disabling the UAC. It’s unlikely to be permissions as creating a new user didn’t help and it’s preferable to leave the UAC on for the improved security.
I’ll keep looking though, I’ve sent off an email to someone who’s seen a lot more Vista problems than I so maybe he’ll have some insight.
my UAC is turned off, has been since the day i bought the pos with vista on it :) Thanks for all of your help!!!!!!!
well my AVG 8.5 was causing my download problems for some reason, uninstalled AVG and now everything works fine…..
Odd, not a big fan of AVG anyway. Avira is an excellent free alternative if you haven’t found anything yet.
Alright, I will give it a try, Thanks for your guys help :)
or you could stay away from the donkey porn sites like nick said….that is the best firewall
